LITTLE EATON DIAMONDS

After the Easter break it was straight back into action and a chance to amend the defeat last time out.

However things did not look good, with the volcano stranding Kuba and Josh in Italy and Lanzarote, and Jake not feeling well we were down to 6 players, but Jake the ever professional made sure he was available and played through the pain barrier.

With Joe as our captain we started the game brightly and were soon attacking Little Eaton’s goal with some good work from Harry and Corben.

After an initial scare on our goal with Sam clearing from goal we soon took a well deserved lead, when Corben collected a clearance from the opposition on the edge of the area and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper. Jubilee maintained the pressure and with our defence of Sam, Jake and Corben clearing any danger our dominance began to show. Joe who was working tirelessly in midfield along side Harry scored our 2nd with a shot at the far post, and then Samuel ended his recent goal drought with a superb goal from the edge of the area.

After a lack of concentration straight after the break allowing Little Eaton to pull one back, the 2nd half continued to be constant pressure from Jubilee, Harry got his reward for his efforts in supporting our striker with a good goal after some great play by Joe and Jake, Samuel then scored 2 more goals one from an excellent corner by Corben and another from a great throw from Sam. To round off the scoring Corben knocked in his 2nd for the match following some good passing between Jake, Samuel and Harry.

A great result and a fantastic team effort with just 7 players, this made the decision for man of the match difficult but with his tremendous work rate and 1st goal of the season the award went to Joe.

MICKLEOVER JUBILEE

Well the big question this week was could we bounce back following our first defeat to Littleover Dazzlers last week. Well the answer was YES, after some hard training the day before the team came together with extra enthusiasm.

Jubilee kicked off the game and in the first few minutes we had a scare when one of their players went down in the penalty area, fortunately the referee saw that Corben had made a great tackle and had played the ball out for a corner. We soon got our composure back and began to be first to all the loose balls, Clarke was controlling the midfield along side Kuba which meant that most of the play was in Belper’s half of the field, but whenever they did break away our defence with Jake, Sam and Corben dealt with them superbly.

With so much pressure it was only a matter of time that it paid off and our first goal came from some good play from Clarke and Kuba who played the ball forward for Samuel to shoot, his shot was saved but Kuba who continued his run knocked in the rebound. This sparked Belper who began to attack more but another great display in goals from Kane ensured that they were kept out. Another goal though for Jubilee was soon to follow, and with some good work down the right side saw Samuel place a shot on goal with a slight deflection off their defender, another from Samuel soon followed to make the score 3-0.

The 2nd half now with Joe working tirelessly in midfield, Harry up front and Finn in defence saw Jubilee carry on their good work, Clarke scored the 4th with a superb free kick from just inside their half, and after Belper had pulled one back Samuel finished the scoring and his hat-trick to make it 5-1.

A great team effort and another close call for man of the match, but Finn pipped it with a great display in defence helping ensure that Belper were kept out.
