WILLINGTON

The first cup game brought us up against Willington and a couple of players who played for us last year, some of the players were nervous and excited with this being their first cup game, however following their good win last week there was no need for them to fear anyone.

Mickleover kicked off and the first few minutes of the game was spent with both sides giving away the ball in midfield, but as the game went on Jubilee started to take control of the game, with Corben continuing his midfield role he again linked up well with Dan and Samuel and they were starting to play some nice passing football, this was rewarded with a couple of corners which saw the ball flash by the oppositions goal but no player was able to get on the end off it, eventually our pressure paid off and following a move started by Fin from defence he played the ball up the line for Corben who laid the ball for Samuel to run into space and from the edge of the area he shot into the far corner 1-0 and well deserved.

This sparked Willington to make a couple of substitutions and they started to attack more looking for the equaliser, but strong defending from both Sam and Kane ensured that they were kept to long range shots, however our midfield started to get isolated and were beginning to play too far up field which gave Willington more space to attack, from this they won a corner which they took short and from this they were able to get a shot on goal and managed to squeeze the ball under Joe B for the equaliser.

Fresh legs were needed so Joe A and Jake came on for Dan who had linked up well in midfield and Fin who had defended confidently at left back. This got us to half time which gave us time to re-group.

2nd half saw Jerome come on for Corben and the half continued in the same manner as the 1st with both sides trying to pass the ball. Jerome was closing down play in midfield and at one point took a hit from the ball straight in his face; this sent him down but with his determination to continue he showed great courage to carry on. Some good play again out of defence by Sam released a ball for Joe A to run into the box and finish with a great shot to make it 2-1. The game was close and Willington continued to attack and look to get back on level terms but our defence now with Jake continuing in the same manner as Fin continued to keep them out. The last few minutes Willington threw all their players forward and left 1 at the back but this helped us with a long ball kicked up from our keeper Joe B, who had kept goal brilliantly, released Samuel to run unmarked into the box and place a shot under their keeper for 3-1.

Great win and great team effort, Man of the match was Sam for his commanding display in defence, supported by Kane, Jake and Fin.

Scorers; Samuel 2, Joe A 1

MICKLEOVER ALL STARS

After our 2 week break forced on by the weather Jubilee were ready to get back to winning ways.

Our previous game saw us earn a well deserved draw against Littleover Dazzlers where Corben played a free role in the midfield, so once again Corben played this role for us.

Jubilee kicked off and straight from the kick off, we were straight on the attack with Samuel taking the ball along the right wing, beating his defender and putting in a cross for Dan to poke home from close range, 1-0 and what a great start.

From the restart Jubilee looked hungry for the ball, and some nice football was being played, our defence of Kane, Sam and Fin was making sure that All Stars were kept away from our goal, and some good passing from defence by Kane and Sam gave the ball to Dan, he played the ball onto Corben who knocked the ball in for 2-0.

Jubilee continued pressing and soon made it 3-0 from some good work from Samuel, who again played his way past the defender on the right and played a nice ball across the box for Corben to run onto, and score his 2nd superb piece of football. To round off a great first half Samuel scored the 4th from the edge of the area after having 2 good chances saved by their keeper.

The 2nd half saw All Stars take a few more chances going forward, but with Jerome coming on in defence he continued the good work in keeping All Stars at bay, Joe in goals was having a quiet afternoon but when called upon he commanded his area and picked up any loose balls, when a saved was required he again performed brilliantly to keep a clean sheet.

Joe A came on in midfield and with his continued tireless running scored two great goals, one which he created himself with his drive through their defence and another which he ran onto from a cross. 6-0 and Corben was unlucky not to of got his hat trick near the end when his shot just went the wrong side of the post.

Another great team effort, Sam was unlucky not to score with a couple of great shots near the end, Kane was strong in defence wining almost every ball that came his way and Fin was steady in defence winning the ball and laying it off, but man of the match went to Corben for his superb display in midfield and 2 good goals.

Scorers; Corben 2, Joe A 2, Dan 1 Samuel 1
