Mickleover Jubilee

On a lovely warm Sunday morning in Markeaton Park the Under 15’s gathered for their last match of the season desperate to make it a winner.

Both teams were up for the match with a lively start, which worked well for Jubilee who scored after 2 minutes with a lovely header from Jordan following a corner. Jubilee 1-0 up.

With spirits raised the play continued well, interrupted only for treatment to an ankle injury to our captain Chris who after trying hard to continue had to be subbed off for the rest of the game, he continued to support from the touchline though, encouraging the team all the way.

Jubilee went on the attack later in the half and were rewarded with a cracking goal from Jack A. scoring straight passed the keeper for the 2nd goal.

In the second half Jubilee were keen not to concede and had a few worries as Allestree maintained their attack, but after we returned the pressure onto them a second goal from Jack A gave us a 3-0 score line. As the game continued subs were used well to give players a break from the pace in the heat, and everyone had a good run out during the match. A few minutes after our 3rd goal, Allestree attacked and went for goal with an excellent save by Danny keeping our clean sheet.

With 10 minutes remaining a strong Jubilee went on the attack again and Jack A was again in the right place to score his 3rd for a hat-trick in this game. Nerves were jangling as Allestree kept trying, with good play and passing the ball but as the referee blew the whistle Mickleover were over the moon. With 8 clean sheets this season (the best record in the U15’s league with only 24 goals conceded) this 4-0 win meant the team had won the 3rd division of the league – an excellent result after a hard fought season where the whole team contributed to this achievement

The sun helped the celebrations and all players and spectators enjoyed the moment to the full.

Well Done lads, lets see more of this effort and team work next season

After last weeks match and not going 1 point behind Riverside we knew we had to win this match. The pitch was very mudded so there was not going to be any slick play today, From kick off we were attacking and putting Belper under lots of pressure and it paid off after 15 mins with a great strike by Jack A. what a start 0-1 we keep on attacking with some great moves just before the end of the 1st half we went 0-2 ahead with another goal from Jack A. This was great for our 1st place hopes as long as Riverside were losing

Half time 0-2

Second half and we keep the pressure on their goal and again a great strike by Jack A to finish off his hat-trick we kept on pressing for the rest of the match and just missing the target

With about 25mins into the 2nd half Belper were awarded a penalty which looked like the player had just fell over in the box the Belper player came up to take it and hit well over the bar

We play the time out to finish the match 3-0 and to make it our 7th clean sheet this season

Riverside lose so we are 1 point behind with 2 matches to go

Well done the lads again

This team has played together since under 9’s with the same manager and coaches. We enjoy our football and feel we’re improving season by season. We have a great team spirit and lots of parental support which helps us out a lot. Last year our parents voted Jonathan as their parent’s player of the year. We are doing very well as a squad and the lads are pleased with the way they are playing and enjoying their training.

We were really pleased to be voted the most improved team at this years club awards night. The lads have worked really hard over last season to improve their individual and team performances.
