Field Lane 5 A Side Football Tournament - Saturday 20th June 2009

2 teams entered in the U10 section and with the sun beating down, both teams played superbly and made it to the quarter finals, with one team getting through to the quarters with a world class strike from Joseph to go through with a golden goal as our other team flooded the pitch to congratulate them. The other team went all the way and it was school boy dreams as Aidan who had been carried of the pitch in normal time after being kicked up in the air 3 times, coming back on in extra time to see if he could even run, and as the game was heading for penalties our captain led from the front and scored the golden goal winner and as the pictures show both our teams went wild!!!

Jubilee Finish The Season In Style With Comprehensive Win

Jubilee ended the season in style with this high scoring victory over the Sharks, which also confirmed them as having the division’s meanest defence.

Mickleover were quick off the mark as almost straight from the kick off Will played in Josh whose shot went just wide. Their early pressure told as an excellent move from Sam to Morgan and then to Josh saw the ball put into the box and as Will put pressure on the defence the ball came off him and ended up in the back of the net. 0-1

Again straight from the kick-off Jubilee were rewarded for keeping the pressure on. An excellent tackle by George found Aiden who played Josh through to score with his follow up after his first shot was blocked by the keeper.0-2

Sinfin showed they were going to put up a fight as they pulled one back following a quick free kick that was blocked, they put the cross over and finished neatly at the far post. 1-2

However this just seemed to inspire Jubilee into moving up a gear. After winning a corner a scramble in the box saw it cleared and when Joseph’s second corner was partially cleared, Will followed in to score his second of the game.1-3

Mickleover soon went further in front when Joe met Will’s cross with an unstoppable first time shot into the roof of the net 1-4.

George saw his shot saved by the keeper, but Jubilee made it five soon after. Josh won a free kick, which he took down the right to Morgan, who ran down and cut in firing hit low shot into the net. 1-5

A great move and excellent cross by Josh was met on the volley by Morgan but went just wide of the post.

Morgan then repaid Josh by playing a lovely through ball to leave Josh clear of the defence, and calmly slot the ball past the keeper and into the goal. 1-6

Jubilee continued to push forward, but were grateful that Ryan showed his excellent concentration and timing to save at the feet of the striker when the Sharks broke away.

A run and cross by Morgan was blocked for a corner from which Owen was unlucky to see his header turned away for another corner. As this corner was cleared to the edge of the area James was on hand to shoot hard and low into the net. 1-7

An excellent passing move from Aidan to Will and then to Morgan, who crossed, saw the ball scrambled clear as Josh closed in. Josh then crossed for Joe at far post, but he just missed with the header, and when Joseph put the ball back in the keeper held on.

Mickleover made it eight by half time when Will charged down a goal kick and followed up to score. 1-8

Half Time

Ben F and Ben C came on at half time for Sam and Morgan. Owen and Ryan also swapped positions.

Jubilee started the second half with the same tempo and an early run by Josh found Will whose shot was saved by the keeper and as Sinfin cleared, they broke away to the other end where Owen came out to make an excellent save, which George backed up to clear.

A nice bit of control by Aidan allowed him the time to lay the ball on for Josh, whose chip to the far post went narrowly wide. Aidan then went on a superb run, riding through three tackles, but fired just over at the end.

Ryan made great interception in the middle of the park to play in Will, but his shot was straight at the keeper.

Jubilee were really passing the ball well, and another move from George to Josh then set up Ryan who saw his shot deflected over the bar. A scramble from the corner saw the ball come to Aidan who scored from the edge of the area.1-9

A cross by Josh saw shots by Aidan and Ryan blocked. An excellent timed interception by Ben C and a great covering tackle by Ben F when danger was looming, kept the Sharks at bay.

A run down the wing by Joseph, saw him shoot straight at the keeper.

Aidan then scored from at around 20 yards out when Will ran down the wing and played the perfect ball back to him. 1-10

It wasn’t long before the next goal came as a sweeping move saw the ball go from Joseph on the right to Aidan and onto Will down the left, who finished well from a narrow angle. 1-11

Josh then made it twelve as he played a lovely one-two with James and after running down the wing hit a curling shot into the top corner. 1-12

To their credit the Sharks never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts when they fired home from a quickly taken corner. 2-12

A quick throw by Sam allowed Aidan time to turn and lay the ball on for Morgan whose shot went just over.

Another super team performance, at the end of an excellent season, showing the all the qualities that have gained the team runners spot up in the league and promotion to Division 1.

WELL DONE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU !!

JUBILEE GAIN REVENGE ON THE LEAGUE WINNERS

A tremendous performance all round saw Jubilee secure an excellent win over the league champions in their final home game of the season.

An injury in the pre-match warm up saw Aidan sidelined and forced a reshuffle with Will reverting to centre half and Owen leading the line up front.

Jubilee were off to a good start, with Owen playing in Josh, who cut in from the wing and saw his shot blocked by the keeper. The resulting corner taken by Joseph was headed clear. A run by Joe, and another by Josh saw both their shots saved by the keeper who was having an excellent game.

An excellent tackle by Morgan in midfield saw the ball fall to Owen whose shot was well saved by the keeper.

Jubilee were retaining the ball well and the passing was excellent, but the Castle Donington side showed their quality as Ryan need to save twice in quick succession to keep them at bay.

Jubilee took the lead though, with an excellent goal as excellent work by Ben F down the left won a throw in which was flicked on.  Owen wrapped his foot around the ball to loop over a cross, which saw Joe pop up in front of the keeper to head into the net. 1-0

Donington tried to hit back but Ryan was there again when needed to save a free kick.

Jubilee were unlucky when George was nearly through, but was just offside, and another run by Josh, who picked up a clearance by Ajay, saw him cross the ball into the area, but the ball bobbled in front of Owen as he lined up to shoot.

Another Donington attack saw Will, supported at the back by James, clear under pressure, followed by another good save by Ryan.

A throw in by Joseph led to another shot by Josh which was saved by the keeper. The corner, taken by Joseph fell to Ajay who shot wide.

An excellent first half came to an end just as Donington took their free-kick.

Half Time 1-0

Sam replaced Ben F at half time.

The second half started with Donington on the front foot as Joseph needed to clear off the line. An excellent clearing header by Sam as the Donington midfielders were running in prevented any danger. A great throw by Josh saw Joe return the favour by flicking the ball on to Owen who saw the keeper advance to try and smother the ball but followed in to slot home. 2-0

Ben C came on to replace Ajay, and he nearly scored with his first touch as he followed up on Josh’s shot that was saved by the keeper, only to see the ball go inches past the post.

Donington were back in the game shortly after when a neat shot curled in at the far post. 2-1

Aidan recovered from his earlier injury to replace Owen.

Ryan was again called into action with a great save at his near post.

A clearance by George saw Ben C keep running to pressure the keeper into clearing. A great flick by Morgan saw Josh run through and lob the keeper but saw the ball bounce just wide of the post.

Donington pushed for an equalizer but excellent defensive work again by James and Will ensured Jubilee held on.

Josh made another of his powerful runs down the wing, and the final whistle blew just as he released his shot that cannoned back off the bar.

This team has played together for three seasons since September 2006. We enjoyed a successful first season, finishing fourth in a division of 8 teams, 2nd season finishing 3rd and last season runners up, clearly showing a year on year improvement. We were also Winners and Quarter Finalists at the 2009 Field Lane 5 a-side tournament.

We continue to have a great deal of parental support which is great and provides a true team spirit.
